12-hr play festival

1st annual . 12-hour play festiva

In the span of 12 hours, they brainstormed, wrote, rehearsed, and performed (starting at 6pm) six 10-minute plays in the WHS Black Box Theatre.

Teams raisied funds for theatre students to perform in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival through pledges for their work on the 12-Hr Play Festival.

WHS advance theatre perfroms a theatre for young audiences tour!

On Wednesday, January 25, the Theatre II, III, and IV classes performed their original plays for Barton Creek ES, Valley View ES, and West Ridge MS audiences. Themes of the plays included making mistakes, "frenemies," and embracing diversity.

Westlake High School Theatre has been selected to perform in the
world’s largest and most prestigious arts festival in the world as part
of the American High School Theatre Festival (AHSTF). Each August,
Edinburgh, Scotland becomes the most magical and exciting place on earth
as performing artists from all over the world come to Scotland
to take part in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

As you can imagine, our theatre arts students, their parents, and teachers 
are heavily involved in fundraising activities to finance this
two-week long adventure to Scotland and England. 

We are looking for contributions in any amount, from $1 to $5,000
to help support these young artists in their journey to the Fringe!

The Westlake High School Theatre department is currently selling advertising for its 2016-2017 performance programs.

The programs will be distributed at the performances of the Theatre department throughout the school year.

The Westlake Theatre Department draws large audiences at their performances which will include 7 performances for a total of 14 shows during the 2016-2017 school year.

Fifty percent of the ad sale proceeds are credited to the theatre student to be used for theatre expenses and activities. The other fifty percent pays for the costs of printing the programs.
